    So Much For Consistency

    Wednesday, February 21st, 2007

I stated in my post yesterday that my daughter was becoming more consistent in asking to use the potty.  Yesterday after we arrived home, my husband was playing with her, bouncing her on his leg.  After a minute or so, he felt a warm sensation through her pull-up on his thigh and said,
“Did you just pee on your daddy?”
    She smiled at [...]

    I Like Myself!

    Tuesday, February 20th, 2007

This past Sunday morning as my daughter was finishing breakfast, she said, “I gotta go to the potty.”  Success!  She asked to go to the potty!  I would so love to say that this is a regular occurrence.  It’s not quite regular; nevertheless, the request is becoming more common.  We’re making progress!
Yet, it’s not that she [...]

Five Favorites For Friday - Week Ending Feb. 9, 2007

    Friday, February 9th, 2007

It’s that time again…the five posts I discovered this week that I enjoyed and added value to my life.  Click and enjoy!
Favorite #1 — The Law of Attraction is big these days, and I can definitely subscribe to some of the tenets.  Nevertheless, I can’t help but to know that the proverb that the principle most subscribes [...]

    I’m Making Good Choices!!!

    Saturday, February 3rd, 2007

It was time for my daughter to go night-night.  I love to read to her, and she loves books, so when it’s getting past her bedtime, I tell her, “You can choose one book.”  So she chose one of my favorites, The Very Hungry Caterpillar.  Because it’s one of my favorites, I said, “Good choice, A.!”  She [...]

My Little - Ooops! - “Big” Girl

    Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007

I think I’ve done pretty well not going overboard with worry when my 2 year, 8 month old daughter is not feeling well.  Since she started daycare when she was 7 months old, she’s gotten colds, though their onset occurs less frequently.  I now feel a bit more comfortable properly medicating her without calling the nurse’s line at the [...]

Where Is Barney? Improv By My Daughter…

    Monday, January 22nd, 2007

I have so much fun with my daughter (she’s 2 years and 8 months old as of Jan. 20th).  While driving to school in the morning with her, I listen to the Steve Harvey Morning Show (it is the most hilarious show I have ever heard in my life!).  This morning, as I was listening [...]

Out Of The Mouths Of Babes

    Tuesday, January 16th, 2007

Like many families, my family of origin (with which I grew up) is dysfunctional.  We have had our problems, but right now, my father is really going through.  My mom passed away in July 2006 from lung cancer (which she dealt with for six years).  My father didn’t treat her very well at all (I won’t get into the [...]

“To the Left, to the Left…” That’s My Song!

    Saturday, January 13th, 2007

My daughter is in that stage where the world revolves around her (at what stage of a child’s development does that change?  Never, you say?).  She’ll be 3 years old in May, but she already has an incredible vocabulary and enunciates so very well (I’m not really bragging here, no matter how indulgent it sounds).  Last summer she [...]

    Bedtime Success!

    Friday, January 12th, 2007

Baby books giving advice to new mothers abound.  There are books which tell you what gender your baby will be depending on the position in the womb.  There are books which attempt to show you how to get your baby on a feeding schedule.  Some of these books explain how to breastfeed, how to interpret your baby’s cries, what [...]

    The Mother-Daughter Dance

    Saturday, December 30th, 2006

After a long six-year battle with lung cancer, my mother finally went to her resting place with the Lord on July 26, 2006 at about 10:05 in the morning.  I was present in her hospital room when she passed; in fact, as she took those last “fish out of water” breaths, I stroked her hair and told her [...]
