A Bit Exhausted
By KWiz | March 27, 2007
Yes, I am.
I’ve been thinking about a lot of things…
Creativity…
Fathers…
Daughters…
Teaching…
Writing…
I’ve had a lot to do. I’ve got papers to grade. Presentation to prepare for a meeting on Thursday afternoon. Lectures and discussions to develop…this week.
I’ve also got to spend more time with my husband.
Theodore Roethke once said,
“A mind too active is no mind at all.”
So I’ve got to take a couple of days off…
But in the meantime, as I have been thinking about creativity lately, and plan to make that a topic of discussion soon, I want to offer the following pieces of wisdom taken from The Artist’s Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity by Julia Cameron:
Every blade of grass has its Angel that bends over it
and whispers, “Grow, grow.”
The Talmud
To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong.
Joseph Chilton Pearce
The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed.
C.G. Jung
To know what you prefer instead of humbly saying Amen to
what the world tells you you ought to prefer,
is to have kept your soul alive.
Robert Louis Stevenson
When a man takes one step toward God, God takes more steps
toward that man than there are sands in the worlds of time.
The Work of the Chariot
I’ll be back on Friday with my Friday Favorites. In the meantime, feel free to comment here! I will respond to comments.
Have a great rest of your week!

great post, loved the quotes.
agree that your mind being too active can be damaging - but isn’t it tough to find the peace sometimes?!

Take a rest, K-Wiz.
You’re still coming up with great content.
I’ve always loved that quote about a blade of grass having an angel whispering over it…

Hi Rachel,
I think it is sometimes difficult to find peace - especially when you’ve got children around. But I think it’s necessary to force it upon yourself. Sometimes that means taking every available opportunity, even if it’s in the car by yourself, to take a minute to try to get that peace. I know I begin to lose it when I don’t have it.

Hi Paula,
Thank you for the compliment and support. Look for a post Friday and this weekend! I’ll still be visiting though. It’s much easier just taking in what other people offer (of course, adding to the conversation with comments)…

KWiz,
I think it is hard to find peace when you’ve got the world around. I empathize with you, if you have read my blog lately I am in the same boat. Take care and I look forward to what you have to say after your rest!

I know you have transformed me, sweets. With the many things we must do and want to do it is hard to realize that if we do not take the time for nothing, things get harried.
Enjoy your rest.

I just discovered your blog and it is amazingly beautiful. It is important for women to nurture themselves too; enjoy your break.

I agree that’s its so difficult to have those quiet creative moments when we have to deal a busy hectic schedule in our life. I learned my free time is very valuable.
