Weekly Weight Loss Update - It’s Christmas!

    By KWiz | December 25, 2006

It’s Christmas Day!  What am I doing here?  I made the macaroni and cheese, dressing, and cabbage.  My husband prepared the turkey and the sweet potatoes.  We’ve got egg nog, wine coolers, cranberry sauce…And no, we did not have guests at our home this Christmas.  It’s just my husband, my daughter and I eating all this food!  (And we didn’t even get a dessert!)

I’ve been known to stuff myself during the holidays; nevertheless, I didn’t stuff myself this Christmas dinner.  My husband says he didn’t stuff himself either.  But my daughter went nuts over the cranberry sauce!  I think she ate half a can (yes, the jellied sauce in the can) by herself!  I finally had to cut her off.  I think we all did pretty well, considering…

On another note, this was really the first year that we were able to have a Christmas that felt like Christmas.  We had a tree, complete with lights and decorations.  We had an assortment of gifts under the tree for our daughter.  It was so much fun watching her open her gifts (after we told her it was okay to tear the gift wrap, the present opening ceremony went a little quicker) - I took so many pictures my finger was beginning to numb!  It felt good watching her enjoy her Christmas this year (she’s only 2½ so she’s just beginning to understand what Christmas is all about).

As I noted in the “About KWiz” section of the site, I am a Christian.  One of the things my husband and I talked about was if and how to introduce Santa Claus to my daughter (I talked about this in a previous entry).  I found a wonderful book (I know I’m a little late talking about this, since Christmas is over, but there is always next year) that explains Christmas in a way that stresses the true meaning of Christmas without excluding Santa.  The book is entitled God Gave Us Christmas.  The basic premise of the book, as Mama Bear says to Little Cub, “Santa Claus reminds us about many good things like generosity and care.  But it is God and Jesus that we celebrate most come Christmas…”
